Novak Djokovic secured a 6-3 6-4 victory over Cameron Norrie to reach his 17th successive Rome quarter-final in a contentious match on Tuesday.

Djokovic was angered by Norrie's shouts of 'Come on' and hit in the ankle by a smash when he had already given up the point.

Djokovic criticised Norrie's behaviour, saying "Those are the things we players know are not fair play," despite acknowledging they are allowed.

The Serbian continued to break early in the second set, with Norrie breaking back in controversial fashion.

Djokovic broke to love for 5-4 and sealed victory on his second match point. He faces Danish seventh seed Holger Rune in the quarter-finals.
