Movie producer Stanley Ajemba, also known as Stanley Ontop, confirmed the passing of actress Nkechi Nweje on Saturday. In a heartfelt Instagram post accompanied by her photo, he lamented, “Nollywood is in tears as we bid farewell to one of our most dynamic talents, Nkechi Nweje, after a brief illness. It felt unreal—I couldn’t even post earlier because it all seemed like a dream. Ezigbo Nwanyi Onitsha. Rest in peace, ma’am. She was not just my friend but a constant source of advice, calling me on the phone, even during the Queenth saga when she urged, ‘Ontop, stop.’ I remain speechless.”

Nkechi Nweje is survived by her husband and six children.
