August 19, 2022 No Arrears, No Resumption, ASUU Dares FG

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has said it would not call off its strike until the salary arrears of its members were paid.

In a statement, the union’s national president, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, explained that the government encouraged the strike to linger because of its provocative indifference.

He said ASUU rejected the government’s offer because it did not follow the collective bargaining agreement.

He asked the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education, to return to the New Draft Agreement of the 2009 FGN/ASUU Renegotiation Committee whose work spanned a total of five and half years as a demonstration of good faith.

Osodeke also dismissed the government’s claim of paucity of funds, saying it is unacceptable.
