The Federal Government has announced that only buyers with a National Identification Number (NIN) can purchase 50 kg bags of rice at a subsidized price of ₦40,000. During the flag-off ceremony, President Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari, said the rice would be sold on a "one person, one bag" basis.
The initiative aims to address the ongoing food crisis in Nigeria, with buyers verified through NIN and phone numbers to prevent fraud. Civil servants can purchase rice using their IPPIS details, with designated sales and collection points to ensure smooth distribution.
