April 28, 2023 Nigerian Students Contribute Funds for Transportation to Egypt

In  North Africa where Nigerian students are said to be contributing money to transport themselves to neighboring Egypt where they are to be airlifted to Nigeria.

One of the Nigerian students trapped in crisis-torn Sudan, Abubakar Sadiq, said the drivers of the buses conveying the first batch of 588 students collected their passports from them.

In a viral video, the affected students are seen venting their frustrations after being held in the desert for some hours by the drivers with no help in sight.

This is despite the 1.2 million dollars set aside for road transportation and security of the evacuees.

Sadiq said the drivers are insisting that the documents will not be returned to them until they receive full payments from the Nigerian government.

The student, who spoke to Channels Television, is among the about 1,500 Nigerian students who are waiting to be evacuated from that country where fighting is continuing.
