Bundesliga club Hoffenheim have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Gift Orban for a transfer fee of €9 million ($9.2 million), as confirmed by French club Lyon on Thursday.

The 22-year-old forward departs Lyon after a challenging season where he struggled to secure a regular spot in the squad. Orban joined Lyon a year ago from Belgian side Gent but managed only five goals in 21 appearances. He last featured in a league match for Lyon in September.

"We wish Gift well in his new adventure," Lyon stated in their official release.

At Hoffenheim, Orban is expected to inject speed and versatility into the team's attacking options. Andreas Schicker, Hoffenheim’s director, praised the Nigerian forward's attributes:

"In Gift Orban, we have found exactly the fast striker we were looking for. We are convinced that his skills will give our team greater variety in attack."

The move marks a fresh start for Orban, who will now aim to make a significant impact in the Bundesliga.
