Nigeria has crossed 5,000 marks of Coronavirus cases as it recorded 193 new infections yesterday.

It brings the total number of infections in the country to 5,162.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed the new figures in a tweet late yesterday.

According to the NCDC, 58 of the new cases were in Lagos, 46 were in Kano, 35 in Jigawa and 12 in Yobe, 7 in Ogun and 9 in the FCT.

Plateau and Gombe had 5 new cases each; 4 cases were recorded in Imo state while 3 new cases each were discovered in Edo, Kwara and Borno state.

The total number of active cases in the country now stands at 3,815 while 1,180 persons have been discharged.

The total number of COVID-19 fatalities recorded in the country increased to 167.
