Nollywood actress Evan Okoro has turned to social media to express her distress over the imminent demolition of her property in Delta State, lamenting, "Nigeria has happened to me." Okoro revealed that her attempts to earn a livelihood through ventures like a fish farm and plantation have been ruined. She made a direct appeal to the state's governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, urging him to intervene and stop the demolition. "Please, my governor, do something #sheriffoborevwori," Evan Okoro implored in an Instagram post on Tuesday. "I'm just a struggling, hardworking lady trying to make a living in your state, Asaba, Delta State.
Our esteemed and handsome governor, please, sir, do something. My entire world is falling apart," she lamented. Okoro emphasized that she has not only lost her home but also her means of livelihood. "It's not fair; I am heartbroken right now. Why are they doing this to us? Nigeria has happened to me. Everything is gone: my fish farm, my plantation," she cried out in a video she shared. She acknowledged the government's authority over land ownership but pleaded for compassion. "I understand that all lands belong to the government, even my father's house in the village. Please, sir, do something #sheriffoborevwori, our very own Governor, please, sir." However, the demolition of properties labeled as 'illegal' has been ongoing nationwide.
In a separate incident, a businesswoman known as @lashiskin_ on Instagram was deeply traumatized after receiving a demolition notice from the Lagos State Government for a building her family acquired in the Eti Osa Local Government Area of the state. The fair-skinned lady, who, according to her Instagram profile, is involved in the skincare business, was seen shedding uncontrollable tears over the development in a viral video she posted on her page late Sunday.
In the video, the businesswoman lamented that her family bought the property in February 2024, revealing that all their hard work had been invested in its purchase. She said, "We bought our property in February, and we've only been there for two months. All the hard work, all the sleepless nights, everything… If you are in Lagos, you know how much property in Eti Osa costs."
