Nigeria’s electricity grid suffered a collapse just before noon on Wednesday, as reported by the official X handle dedicated to monitoring the grid, @NationalGridNg.

“There was a ‘GRID DISTURBANCE’ before noon today. Parts of the country experienced an outage. Further information shortly,” the post read.

Confirming the incident, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company stated via X that the system failure occurred at 11:34 AM on February 12, 2025.

“Please be informed that we experienced a system outage today at 11:34 hrs, affecting all our feeders. Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders,” the company wrote.

Efforts to restore power are currently underway, as authorities work to stabilize the grid and bring affected areas back online.
