February 28, 2025 Natasha Accuses Akpabio of Sexual Harassment, Senate President Refutes Allegation

The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, claiming he deliberately blocked her motions in the Senate after she rejected his advances.

Akpabio, through his media consultant Kenny Okulogbo, has denied the allegations, dismissing them as false and politically motivated.

In an interview with Arise Television on Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that the Senate President subjected her to persistent harassment after she refused his propositions. She recounted an incident on December 8, 2023, at Akpabio’s residence in Ikot-Ekpene, where he allegedly made inappropriate remarks while showing her around his home.

She stated, “He held my hand and said he wanted to show me around. My husband was there, but at some point, Akpabio quickened his pace while still holding my hand. He asked if I liked his house, and when I said yes, he told me, ‘Now that you are a Senator, you should make time for us to spend quality time here—you’ll enjoy it.’”

According to her, Akpabio later insinuated that she could receive favors in the Senate if she "made him happy." She likened her experience to a student being punished by a lecturer for refusing to comply with inappropriate demands.

Responding to the accusations, Okulogbo dismissed them as baseless, attributing her claims to her recent removal as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content.

“She is simply upset about losing her position. Everything she said is a complete lie,” Okulogbo stated, adding that an official response from the Senate President would be issued soon.
