In a harrowing turn of events, Dr. Stephen Angbas, the proprietor of Lafia-Angbas Clinic in Nasarawa State, met a fatal end at the hands of unidentified assailants. The incident occurred late on a Tuesday as Dr Angbas was returning from his farm on a motorcycle in the Awe Local Government Area of the state.
Eyewitnesses recounted a horrifying attack by suspected armed robbers who launched vicious machete assaults on the doctor and the motorcyclist responsible for his transportation to the farm. Dr Angbas tragically succumbed to his injuries, while the motorcyclist, Mikailu Dahiru, was promptly rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment, having sustained severe wounds in the attack.
Audu Lawal, an official at the local government council, expressed deep concern over the incident and reported that the council chairman had promptly informed security authorities, calling for immediate intervention.
Confirming the report, DSP Rahman Nansel, the state's police spokesperson, disclosed that mobile police operatives received distressing information about a fatal assault along the Jangargari-Awe Road. He stated, "Tragically, the victims were a commercial motorcycle rider, Mikailu Dahiru, who survived the attack, and Dr. Angbass Stephen, who succumbed to his grievous injuries."
In response to this senseless violence, CP Maiyaki Baba, the Commissioner of Police, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and initiated a comprehensive investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. Nansel also encouraged any public member with relevant information to come forward and assist in the swift apprehension of those responsible for this despicable act.
