Nigerian actress Nancy Isime has shared her unique outlook on marriage, explaining that, unlike many young girls who fantasize about their weddings, her focus has always been on building her career and achieving financial independence.
During an interview on the "Creativitea Live with Lynda" podcast, Isime discussed her goals, stating that her priorities revolve around work and money, not marriage. She said, "I've always envisioned myself working. While many young girls daydream about getting married, I never did. I used to daydream about working, making my own money, and being independent."
Isime also expressed that she isn't concerned with the idea of a "dream wedding," noting that if she does get married, the wedding will be whatever she and her partner agree on at the time—whether big or small.
The actress linked her perspective to her upbringing, where financial struggles shaped her desire for independence. She explained, "Growing up in a humble background, asking for things was almost taboo. You were expected to know there wasn’t money, so I always dreamed of having my own. I couldn’t wait to make my own money and do my own thing."
Isime emphasized that her main priority is creating her ideal life through financial independence, saying, "I believe in spending on myself, so no one can ever claim that without them, I wouldn’t have the life I enjoy."
