Legendary Nigerian singer and actress, Onyeka Onwenu, has reportedly passed away at the age of 72.

According to reports, she collapsed during the birthday party of Mrs. Stella Okoli on Tuesday night, July 30, 2024. Despite being rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, she did not survive.

An eyewitness at the party confirmed the news, stating, "It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at Mrs. Stella Okoli's birthday today, and after performing, she slumped. She was taken to Reddington Hospital, but she couldn’t make it."

As of now, Onwenu’s family has not officially announced her death. Onyeka Onwenu will be remembered for her impactful music albums such as *In The Morning Light* and *Dancing In The Sun*.
