November 7, 2023 Mohbad: Court Sends Nurse, Friend Back To Custody

In a recent development, the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba has taken action regarding the case involving the tragic death of the hip-hop artist known as Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba. The court proceedings, which took place on Monday, shed light on various aspects of this ongoing investigation.

A 37-year-old auxiliary nurse by the name of Fisayo Ogedengbe was brought before the court as a suspect in connection with the controversial death of the artist. It is alleged that the nurse administered injections that led to the unfortunate demise of Mohbad. Consequently, the magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, decided to send Fisayo Ogedengbe back into custody.

Another individual implicated in the case is Mohbad's friend, Ayobani Sadiq. The magistrate ordered that Sadiq be returned to police custody, pending further developments in the investigation.

However, the court proceedings took a different turn for two other individuals, Azeez Fashola, who is also known as Naira Marley and served as Mohbad's former boss, and a Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, known as Sam Larry. Both of them had been taken into custody by the police on October 6.

In their case, Magistrate Olatunbosun granted them bail, each with a bail amount of N20 million. The conditions for their bail include having three responsible sureties who can match the bail amount. Furthermore, one of these sureties must own a piece of landed property. As part of their bail conditions, Naira Marley and Sam Larry were required to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Magistrate Olatunbosun also issued a stern warning, emphasizing that no one should attempt to contact her directly regarding the case. She cautioned that any such attempts would be recorded and could potentially be disclosed in open court proceedings.

The police investigation into the case is still ongoing. As a result, Magistrate Olatunbosun adjourned the case until November 29, awaiting further advice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution. The matter remains a subject of keen interest, and the legal process will continue to unfold in the coming weeks.
