The transport operators on the federal government’s transportation waiver list have expressed mixed reactions to the development.
The Chairman of the Inter-ministerial Committee on the Presidential Intervention on Public Transportation and Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, had approved a 50% slash for inter-state travel and free train rides for Nigerians ahead of the yuletide.
The routes include Lagos-Kano, Lagos-Abuja, Lagos-Jos, Lagos-Onitsha, and Lagos-Abakiliki.
While a transport company we spoke to yesterday morning said it had been effected, a visit to Lagos's Jibowu inter-state travel park proved otherwise.
Ticket officers in one of the companies visited last night, Bright Ugochukwu, said the transporters had a meeting with the federal government, but there was no clear directive from the management yet.
Our correspondent also spoke with some travellers who lamented the non-implementation of the directive.
