The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 32-year-old Funmi Faith for allegedly mistreating a female child. The arrest was announced on Wednesday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The incident gained attention after a video was shared on X, calling for help to rescue the maltreated child. A voice in the video condemned the treatment as "dehumanizing" and urged the Lagos State government to intervene, stating, "Mummy Mariam, this is bad. It is dehumanizing. You can’t treat this girl like this. I am giving the Lagos State government this video; this is dehumanizing."
According to Hundeyin, Faith was apprehended by officers from the Oke-odo Division on Tuesday. The child has been placed under the care of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development for proper care and shelter.
