The Lagos State government has taken decisive action following the tragic death of a student at Chrisland School in Opebi, Ikeja.
In response, the Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, announced that the school would be temporarily closed while a full investigation is conducted.
Adefisayo expressed her condolences to the family and friends of the deceased student, Whitney Adeniran, and offered her prayers for the rest of her soul.
Despite this difficult time, the Commissioner urged calm and promised that every effort will be made to uncover the truth behind the incident, inisisting that “no effort will be spared in investigating the incident”.
Whitney's father, Michael Adeniran, has also issued a statement in which he called for an investigation into his daughter's death. He stated that Whitney was in good health and showed no signs of illness when she was picked up for inter-house sports activities last Thursday, February 12, 2023.
The Lagos State government is taking this matter very seriously and is determined to find answers for the family and the wider community. The closure of Chrisland School is a necessary step in this process.
