The Lagos State Government has apprehended 94 individuals during a midnight raid targeting squatters along rail tracks. The operation, announced by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on X.com on Wednesday, was prompted by public complaints regarding illegal squatters, miscreants, and suspected criminal activities in rail track corridors.
Wahab confirmed that during the operation, authorities seized a locally fabricated shotgun, multiple wraps of suspected Indian hemp, charms, and a jackknife from the suspects. He wrote, “In response to concerns raised by residents, commuters, and other citizens about the activities of illegal squatters and criminal elements along the rail track corridors, the agency conducted a midnight operation from Pen-Cinema under the bridge to Fagba Junction.”
The 94 suspects arrested during the raid will face charges in court.
