February 10, 2025 Kano Governor Swears In New Secretary to State Government

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Monday, officially swore in Umar Ibrahim as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). Ibrahim replaces Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, who was relieved of his duties due to health reasons.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the governor’s office, was a low-key event led by the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi. Until Ibrahim’s appointment, Kano had been without a substantive SSG.

Welcoming the new SSG, the Permanent Secretary of the Research, Evaluation, and Political Affairs Directorate, Umar Jalo, praised Ibrahim’s selection, describing it as a well-deserved appointment. A statement from the Cabinet Office’s Information Officer, Musa Muhammad, expressed confidence that Ibrahim’s leadership would drive positive transformation in the state and ensure the effective delivery of democratic dividends.

In a show of support, the Payroll Standing Committee, led by Deputy Chairman Abdulmalik Rogo, paid a solidarity visit to the new SSG. Rogo emphasized their commitment to backing Ibrahim in his new role and prayed for his success.

Responding to the visit, Ibrahim reaffirmed his dedication to Governor Yusuf and the people of Kano, promising to operate an open-door policy to welcome meaningful contributions for the state's progress. He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and Governor Yusuf for entrusting him with the position, vowing to serve diligently and not betray that trust.
