October 31, 2024 Kaduna Approves New Minimum Wage of N72,000

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has approved a new minimum wage of N72,000 for state civil servants, effective November 2024. This decision, announced on Thursday by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, reflects Sani’s commitment to advancing workers’ welfare and supporting the needs of the poor and vulnerable across the state.

“This decision aligns with our commitment to advancing workers’ interests and improving living standards for Kaduna’s underserved populations,” the statement read.

In addition to the wage increase, Governor Sani plans to launch a free transportation scheme for civil servants, supported by the release of 100 CNG buses. This initiative aims to alleviate workers' transportation costs and boost productivity by providing free rides to and from work.

To ensure smooth operation, a Joint Management Committee of representatives from the organized labor unions (NLC and TUC) and the State Government will oversee the scheme. Governor Sani emphasized his administration’s commitment to policies that enhance the welfare of civil servants and improve the lives of Kaduna’s less privileged.

“The Kaduna State Government remains committed to policies that bring relief and support to our people. With the ongoing support of our citizens, we aim to make Kaduna a model state for social welfare interventions,” Sani stated.
