Juventus center-back Gleison Bremer is set to undergo surgery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during their Champions League match against RB Leipzig, the club announced on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Brazilian international was forced to leave the field just six minutes into Juve's 3-2 victory over Leipzig on Wednesday and was replaced by Federico Gatti. The team also faced another setback, with midfielder Nico Gonzalez sustaining a thigh muscle injury.
In a statement, the club revealed that diagnostic tests showed Bremer has an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee, while Gonzalez has a low-grade injury to the rectus femoris of his right thigh. "Bremer will undergo surgery in the coming days," the statement added.
Since joining Juventus in 2022, Bremer has been a crucial part of the team's defense, having played every minute of the Serie A season so far, during which they have not conceded a goal in their six matches.
