The Inspector-General of Police, MOHAMMED ADAMU has blamed the attack on voting stations and snatching of electoral materials reported in the just concluded Bayelsa and Kogi gubernatorial elections on fake police.
Â
Responding to questions from State House correspondents after briefing on the outcome of the security meeting with President MUHAMMADU BUHARI in Abuja, ADAMU also said that the police helicopter that appeared to shoot tear gas at Kogi voters was patrolling the sky to deter potential trouble makers.
Â
He said the police realized before the elections that there would be violence in the two states.
Â
ADAMU, who disclosed that some arrests had been made by the police in the two states, noted that the security situation across the country is stable.
