Gunmen attacked the vehicle of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Anambra South in Enugu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of his state.

The terrorists were claimed to have ambushed and opened fire on the convoy, killing some of the lawmaker's police officers.

The Senator, on the other hand, managed to flee, although his bulletproof car was riddled with gunshots.

An assassination attempt, according to one of the Senator's aides who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

According to the aide, Senator Ubah and his convoy were traveling through the Nkwo Enugwukwu crossroads when the terrorists opened fire from all sides.

A special aide to the congressman and five police officers were reportedly killed.

Senator Ubah is said to be at an undisclosed hospital where he is being monitored by doctors even though he was not physically hurt.
