Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has been bereaved following the death of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde.

The sad news was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju. According to the statement, Engineer Sunday Makinde passed away in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025, at the age of 65.

Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, a brother of the deceased and the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, as well as the Head of the Aigbofa Family of Oja’ba, Ibadan, announced the passing in an emotional message.

“With a heavy heart, I announce the passage of my older brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde, to eternal glory today, Friday, 24th of January 2025,” the statement quoted Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde.

He further revealed that the death occurred at 3:20 a.m. at the deceased’s residence in Ibadan.

Engineer Sunday Makinde is survived by his siblings, including Governor Seyi Makinde, as well as his children and grandchildren.

This unfortunate loss is deeply felt by the family, friends, and well-wishers of the Makinde family.
