March 13, 2025 Governor Okpebholo Reappoint Suspended Edo Attorney-General Osagie

The Edo State government has lifted the suspension of Samson Osagie, the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, directing him to resume his duties effective March 12, 2025 just over a month after his suspension began. In a letter addressed to Osagie on Wednesday, signed by Secretary to the State Government Umar Ikhilo, it was revealed that Governor Monday Okpebholo ordered the recall after an investigative committee cleared Osagie of allegations involving serious official and financial misconduct. The committee was established in February to probe these claims.

Osagie, alongside Damian Lawani, the Chairman of the Edo State Local Government Commission, was suspended on February 5 pending the outcome of the investigation into the accusations against them. However, the recall letter made no mention of the committee’s findings regarding Lawani.
