December 17, 2021 Four More EPL Games Postponed Over Covid Outbreak In England

After four additional games were postponed due to Covid-19 outbreaks, half of the weekend's Premier League matchups are now cancelled.

Southampton against Brentford, Watford v Crystal Palace, West Ham v Norwich, and Everton v Leicester are the most recent games to be disrupted.

Manchester United's match against Brighton on Saturday was called off earlier on Thursday, as was Leicester City's match against Tottenham on Thursday, both of which were part of the league's midweek schedule.

Fabinho, Curtis Jones, and Virgil van Dijk all missed Liverpool's match against Newcastle on Thursday due to suspected positive tests, though manager Jurgen Klopp stated that the team did not request a postponement.

If a club with a Covid outbreak has fewer than 14 players available, including one goalkeeper, the game will be postponed; however, the Premier League board will consider factors such as whether the training ground is closed, whether players can prepare properly, and whether or not the outbreak is under control when making case-by-case decisions.

Despite four Chelsea players recording positive tests- Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and the injured Ben Chilwell - Thursday's other match between Chelsea and Everton went ahead.
