The police have re-arraigned four bloggers, Precious Eze, Olawale Rotimi, Rowland Olonishuwa, and Seun Odunlami, on new charges at the Federal High Court in Lagos. The bloggers are accused of cyberstalking and spreading false information against Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) through various social media platforms.
The defendants face a 10-count charge, including conspiracy, cyberstalking, publishing false and misleading information, extortion, threats, and causing a decline in GTCO’s shares and market value. They were previously arraigned on September 27, 2024, on charges of cyberstalking and false publications aimed at insulting GTCO’s CEO, Segun Agbaje.
After their pleas, Justice Ayokunle Faji ordered their remand at the Correctional Center. The new charges allege that the bloggers knowingly spread false and misleading claims about GTCO, its management, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the wider banking system, intending to cause disorder and extort the company by damaging its reputation.
