Former Norwich City and Maidstone United midfielder Devonte Aransibia has passed away at the age of 26.
His family announced his death on Tuesday, leaving the football community in mourning.
Aransibia began his football journey with Norwich City, featuring in their youth teams. However, after struggling to break into the first team, he continued his career at non-league level, playing for Potters Bar, Royston Town, Chelmsford, and Welling.
He was also a key part of the Maidstone United squad that had a memorable FA Cup run last season, famously defeating Ipswich Town on their way to the fifth round.
Following his passing, his family has set up a GoFundMe page and released an emotional tribute, describing him as a loving partner, devoted father, cherished son, and a dear friend to many.
Their statement read:
"Dev was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, always ready with a warm smile. His infectious laughter and generous spirit brightened every room he entered, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him."
They also highlighted his deep passion for football, stating:
"Beyond his loving nature, Dev was a talented footballer whose passion and drive propelled him to great success on the pitch."
The football community continues to mourn the loss of a promising talent and a beloved figure.
