Former Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy has officially signed with Swiss club FC Zurich on a contract running until 2026.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 30-year-old defender joins Zurich from French side Lorient, where he spent the last one-and-a-half seasons.
Mendy, who made 75 appearances for Manchester City between 2017 and 2022, moved to Lorient after his release from the Premier League club. His departure followed a legal battle, during which he successfully reclaimed a significant portion of his withheld wages from City after being acquitted of rape charges.
After nearly two years away from professional football, Mendy returned to action with Lorient, making 15 appearances during the 2023–24 season. However, the club suffered relegation to Ligue 2.
FC Zurich currently sits eighth in the Swiss Super League, seven points behind league leaders Basel. The Swiss transfer window remains open until February 17, allowing for further squad adjustments.
