The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned and is currently interrogating Samuel Ortom, the former Governor of Benue State, as per reliable sources.
Ortom arrived at the EFCC's Makurdi zonal office on Alor Gordon Street at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
The invitation was extended to Ortom to address inquiries related to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct during his tenure as a public official.
An undisclosed source confirmed that the former governor is currently present at the EFCC's Makurdi zonal office and has been cooperating with the officials. The nature and specifics of the allegations against Ortom have not been disclosed.
Efforts to reach the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, for comment on the matter were unsuccessful as he did not respond to phone calls or text messages from our correspondent.
The situation surrounding Ortom's interrogation by the EFCC is developing, and further updates may be provided as more information becomes available.
