The National Incident Manager of the Presidential Steering Committee, Mukhtar Mohammed, has said the federal government has suspended the passports of more than 2,000 in-bound travelers for violating the COVID protocol.
Mohammed said surveillance systems have been improved at airports, seaports, and land borders, and travellers found to have violated the protocol have been penalised.
He said passengers arriving from high-risk countries comprising India, South Africa, Brazil and Turkey are expected to observe a 14-day quarantine in facilities approved by government.
Inspiration FM recalls that in May, the federal government released the names of some passengers who were accused of violating the COVID protocol.
