January 25, 2022 FG Bows To Pressure: Shelves Fuel Subsidy Removal

The Federal Government has postponed the planned removal of subsidy on petroleum products till further notice.

This is according to Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Zainab Ahmed during a meeting held at the National Assembly.

The Senate President Ahmed Lawan, who called the meeting, urged organised labour unions in the country to shelve their proposed nationwide protests as it was no longer necessary.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, after the meeting, revealed that several options and palliatives are being considered before subsidy removal will be implemented.

But reacting on Inspiration FM’s All Out Politics, Publisher of Cross River Watch, Agba Jalingo said the reason for FG’s postponement of subsidy removal does not hold water.
