Chelsea squandered a chance to close the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City to two points as a depleted Everton side claimed a brilliant point at Stamford Bridge.
England international, Mason Mount, gave the hosts a merited lead in the 70th minute, finishing calmly past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after a Reece James' assist.
Everton levelled four minutes later when 19-year-old defender Jarrad Branthwaite converted Anthony Gordon's free-kick at the back post in his first league game of the season.
Thiago Silva had an opportunity to win it for the hosts, but Pickford stopped his powerful header brilliantly.
The England shot-stopper had previously saved efforts from Christian Pulisic, James, Jorginho, and three Mount shots while the game was scoreless.
The result leaves Chelsea third, four points behind leaders Manchester City, with Everton staying 14th.
