Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed interim head coach of Manchester United, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag on Monday. Ten Hag’s departure comes amid a challenging start to the season, leaving United in 14th place in the Premier League standings.
Ten Hag, who joined United in April 2022, managed to secure two domestic trophies during his tenure: the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. Despite a contract extension to 2026 supported by the club’s new co-owners, INEOS, United’s recent struggles led to the decision to part ways with the former Ajax manager.
Van Nistelrooy, a former United star, steps in with hopes of turning around the team's fortunes as they look to climb the league table.
