March 27, 2025 Eid-El-Fitr: Federal Government Announces Monday and Tuesday as Public Holidays

The Federal Government has announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, will be observed as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr. This was revealed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Magdalene Ajani, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The minister extended his congratulations to the Muslim community for successfully completing their Ramadan fast. He encouraged Muslims to embody the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, stressing that love, forgiveness, and unity are essential for fostering a peaceful society.

Tunji-Ojo urged all Nigerians to take advantage of the festive season to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and prosperity. He expressed optimism that Eid-el-Fitr would serve as an opportunity to strengthen unity and collaboration among people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds.

The minister also called on citizens to celebrate responsibly and safely, while showing kindness and generosity to the less fortunate, in line with the essence of Ramadan and Eid. Representing the Federal Government, he offered warm Eid Mubarak greetings to all Muslims and prayed that the blessings of the season would usher in joy, success, and fulfillment for everyone, according to the statement.
