Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, has announced an indefinite suspension of all state revenue collections, especially in motor parks and other public areas. The governor has instructed the State Commissioner of Police to arrest anyone who violates this directive.
In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor explained that this suspension is part of a plan to review the state’s revenue collection processes. “Revenue collection in the state is suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the state government will face arrest,” the statement read.
The directive makes it clear that until further notice, no one is authorized to collect revenue on behalf of the state. The governor plans to address concerns and provide updated instructions in the near future.
