Hundreds of youths gathered in Effurun, Delta State, to honour the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad. They called on authorities, particularly the police, to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice for his killers.
Starting at the Awenayeri filling station near Bendel Estate junction along Airport Road in Effurun, the youths carried placards with messages like " #JusticeMohbad. Say No to Marlians", "Justice for Mohbad. Justice for Imole #WarriJusticeforMohbad#", and more.
They insisted on inviting Mohbad's wife for questioning and conducting a DNA test on her son to establish paternity. Additionally, they urged the police to interrogate Mohbad's father regarding the hasty burial of his son. The protesters also called for the arrest of Naira Marley, Mohbad's former label boss, and the individuals allegedly involved in the deceased's demise.
One of the protesters, Odivri Elo Sandra, emotionally likened Mohbad's death to her own life, expressing a feeling of being unloved by those close to her. She emphasised her wishes for a burial at the cemetery if she were to pass away.
Warri-based musician MLI Imole raised concerns about the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and called for an investigation into their alleged denial of Mohbad's arrest in February 2022.
