In a surprising twist, Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has criticized internet personality Verydarkman (VDM), who was recently ordered by a court to retract his defamatory statements against the Falana family. On October 15, 2024, Krane took to Instagram to express his frustration, stating that VDM had not acted fairly when he advocated for him during a past legal dispute.
Krane's comments referred to an incident in August 2024, when VDM publicly supported him after his reported arrest by fellow artist Davido. VDM had called for Krane’s release on social media. However, Krane now claims that VDM failed to properly investigate the facts before speaking out on his behalf.
"I feel like God is using this Falana case to show VDM that he didn't do right by me because if it was someone else, he would have looked into the evidence," Krane said in the video. He accused VDM of favoritism, alleging that VDM didn’t examine his case thoroughly before advocating for him.
Krane added, "VDM should have looked into the case where I said Davido owed me money for songs. I was simply speaking about what had been posted online. He didn’t investigate the evidence, just like with the Dangote case, where I repeated what the police said."
The singer further criticized VDM's activism, calling it "selective" and motivated by favoritism. Krane explained that he refused to apologize for the claims he made, as he believed them to be the truth and feared an apology would be used against him in court.

"If I had apologized, they'd have had evidence to take me to court. Now look at what's happening to him—after his apology, it’s turned into a 500-million-naira lawsuit," Krane added, referencing VDM’s current legal issues.
