The Federal High Court in Lagos has postponed the cybercrime trial of Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, until November 13 and 30.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo made this decision on Monday due to Naira Marley's absence in court.
Naira Marley is facing charges related to cybercrime brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 14, 2019. He was granted bail by the court, with two sureties each providing N2 million.
The EFCC alleges that Naira Marley and his associates conspired to defraud individuals using various Access Bank ATM cards. The trial has been ongoing since its commencement.
Notably, Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, were previously detained by the police in Lagos in connection with the death of Nigerian artist Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad.
During the recent court session, Naira Marley was conspicuously absent despite the court's order for his presence. In response, the prosecutor stated that she had requested a production warrant for the defendant, but he remained absent. As a result, the case was adjourned to continue on November 13 and 30.
