Rapper Vector To Celebrities: ‘Stop Endorsing Bad Governance’

Popular rapper Vector Tha Viper has called on Nigerian celebrities to stop endorsing bad governance. Over the past few years, more Nigerian celebrities have joined partisan politics or openly supported politicians.

Vector criticized those celebrities who align themselves with political figures, ignoring the struggles of their fans and fellow citizens. He warned that if the current hardship continues, it would eventually affect them as well.

On his X handle, Vector wrote: “To the celebrities taking sides against the reality of their people/fans, it may be best to repent before you become the only reachable option if the hardship doesn’t stop. Stop supporting bad governance.”

His remarks come amidst the ongoing nationwide protests against the severe economic hardship in the country.Top of Form

Nigerians Raise N1.8m for Protester Whose Son Aspires to Be a Programmer

Nigerians have raised N1.8m for a protester whose son dreams of becoming a programmer.

Ogwu Chijioke was among hundreds of protesters who took to the streets in Lagos State on Thursday to join the nationwide #EndBadGovernance demonstrations against the country’s harsh economic conditions.

In an interview with Channels Television at the Lekki Toll Gate area, Chijioke shared his struggles to support his son’s ambition of becoming a programmer. "I’m riding from Mile 2, Festac. My son at 13 is a programmer, but I can’t even buy data for him to learn more. I can’t even pay for the tuition fees, millions of naira. At 13, he can program games,” he said, clutching his bicycle.

“My name is Ogwu Benjamin Chijioke. I would rather die on the streets than die at home. I can’t sit down and watch the future of my son go to waste. I know I may not have a future again in Nigeria, but my son’s future will not be wasted.”

His heartfelt message quickly went viral.

“You can feel the passion in his soul,” social media influencer Morris Monye captioned the video shared on his X handle. “He’s lost hope that life will be good for him but has not lost hope for his son. This is why he is protesting.”

"Hello, guys. I’ve gotten his details," Morris wrote hours later. "N1.8m is needed to make his dreams come true."

In less than 24 hours, the money was successfully crowdfunded.

VeryDarkMan Accuses Wike of Intimidation, Urges Tinubu to Speak to the Nation

Popular social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, has accused Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike of attempting to intimidate protesters in Abuja. Speaking just before police deployed tear gas at the Berger Roundabout on Friday, VeryDarkMan called on President Ahmed Tinubu to address the nation amidst the widespread protests.

“Government needs to engage with us, and Tinubu should speak to the public. Wike’s attempts to bully us are unjust,” he stated.

This statement comes as the hunger protest enters its second day in Abuja, Lagos, and other cities across the country. Earlier, an Abuja High Court issued an order limiting protests at the MKO Abiola National Stadium. While Wike urged compliance with the court order, protest leaders claimed they had not received an official copy.
