Gunmen Kill Miyetti Allah Leader

Some gunmen have killed the zonal Vice Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), SAIDU KOLAKU in Adamawa state. 

 

KOLAKU was shot dead in his residence at Sabon Pegi, Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of the state. 

 

State police spokesman, SULAIMAN NGUROJE, who confirmed the incident, said the victim died in the hospital.

Police Beef Up Security In Kaduna Ahead Of El-Zakzaky’s Trial

The Kaduna State Police Command said the ban on protests, processions and demonstrations in the state is still in force.

 

The Command’s Public Relation Officer, YAKUBU SABO, said in a press statement issued in Kaduna that the police will deal decisively with violators of the ban.

 

The statement is coming ahead of a High Court ruling on the application filed by the Shiite leader, IBRAHIM ELZAKZAKY, seeking for bail to travel to India for medical attention.

Reactions Trail Atiku, Serap And Muric’s Condemnation Of Sowore’s Arrest

Several condemnations have been trailing the arrest OMOYELE SOWORE.

Some prominent citizens took to social media to call for SOWORE’s after he was picked up by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for attempting to convene a protest tagged Revolution Now.

Former PDP Presidential candidate, ATIKU ABUBAKAR in his post described the arrest as kidnapping in disguise, stressing that freedom of speech was part of the nation’s democracy.

Nobel laureate, Professor WOLE SOYINKA has described the arrest of activist, OMOYELE SOWORE by the Department of State Security (DSS) as a travesty and violation of the fundamental rights of citizens to congregate and make public their concerns.

Professor SOYINKA said the young politician never engaged in any treasonable act as being claimed by the Inspector General of Police, MOHAMMED ADAMU.

In a statement, titled: “Surely, Not Again!!!,” Professor SOYINKA said the deployment of alarmist expressions such as “treason”, “anarchist”, “public incitement” and so on by security forces had become so predictable and banal that they have become meaningless.
