US Rapper Sean Diddy Jailed Ahead of Sex Crime Trial

US Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky has ordered that renowned American singer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs be held in jail pending his trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Combs is facing serious federal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. On Tuesday, the judge ruled that he be detained without bail following his not guilty plea.

The denial of bail came after a 14-page federal indictment accused Combs of using his extensive business empire to exploit, threaten, and traffic women to satisfy his sexual desires and protect his public image. Federal prosecutors allege that Combs, with assistance from associates in Combs Enterprise, operated a criminal enterprise involved in sex trafficking, arson, forced labor, and kidnapping, among other offenses.

Two of the three charges against Combs carry a maximum penalty of life in prison. Prosecutors have argued for his continued detention until trial. In contrast, his defense team has requested his release on a $50 million bond, with home detention and electronic monitoring.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is set to welcome Bukayo Saka and Riccardo Calafiori back for their Champions League clash against Atalanta on Thursday. The Gunners kick off their European campaign against the reigning Europa League champions.

Arteta’s side has been in excellent form this season, recently securing a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby. Despite missing key players like captain Martin Odegaard and midfielder Declan Rice, Arsenal managed to take all three points.

Odegaard remains sidelined due to an ankle injury, but Rice will return to the squad after serving a one-match domestic suspension. Calafiori appears ready to make his return, having been spotted in training on Tuesday morning, while Saka has recovered from the knock that forced him off late in the game against Spurs.

Yahaya Bello Honors EFCC Invitation — Media Aide

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has honored an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after months of back-and-forth and a previous attempt by the agency to arrest him.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, it was revealed that Bello accepted the EFCC invitation "after due consultations with his family, legal team, and political allies."

The statement highlighted Bello's respect for the rule of law and emphasized that his actions were intended to protect his fundamental rights and ensure due process. "The case has been before a competent court of jurisdiction, and Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been duly represented by his legal team at every hearing. It is important for the former governor to now honor the EFCC's invitation to clear his name, as he has nothing to hide or fear," the statement said.

Bello, a staunch supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its efforts to drive sustainable economic development, also reiterated his support for the fight against corruption in Nigeria. The statement noted that he was the first governor in Kogi State to implement an anti-corruption mechanism aimed at preventing graft and ensuring state resources were used for the benefit of the people.

According to Michael, Bello was accompanied to the EFCC Headquarters by several high-profile Nigerians. He expressed hope that the Commission would remain professional and respect Bello's fundamental rights as a Nigerian citizen. "Details of his engagement with the EFCC operatives will be shared later," the statement concluded.

This development follows the adjournment of Bello’s alleged money laundering case by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja to September 25. The EFCC had filed a 19-count charge against Bello, accusing him of laundering ₦80 billion. Despite multiple invitations and court summons, Bello had previously declined to appear before the EFCC or attend court hearings.
