Abducted Vice-Chairman Of Nigeria Bar Association In Taraba State, Regains Freedom.

Abducted Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Taraba State, Zainab Kashimi, has regained her freedom.

 

A family source, who preferred to be anonymous, disclosed that Kashimi was set free unhurt in the early hours of yesterday without any ransom paid.

 

She was kidnapped on Friday evening by gunmen who whisked her away to an unknown destination.

 

The abduction of Zainab Kashimi brings to two; the number of top lawyers kidnapped and released with Joel Daniel, the former NBA Branch chairman in the state being the first.

Lagos Residents Lament Ban On Motorcycles, Tricycles In Some Areas.

The state government has promised to provide alternative means of transportation for commuters following its ban on commercial motorcycles and tricycles also known as okada and keke respectively.

 

He also commended the drivers for complying with their restriction from six LGAs, major highways and bridges.

 

The state government said a fleet of 65 buses will join the others on some major routes as from today with about 550 more buses expected and 14 ferries will be commissioned on Tuesday.

 

It also said “this will further open up the waterways, reduce travel time on various routes and provide safe, dependable and comfortable alternatives for commuters.

 

However, the ban which began on Saturday has been widely condemned by residents as the government insists that it became necessary due to the casualty figures resulting from their operations.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye Leads Members In Prayer Walk.

Adeboye General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has led members of his church in a prayer walk against insecurity in Nigeria.

 

Pastor Adeboye directed the congregation to participate in the prayer walk declared by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to address the spate of killings across the country.

 

According to an Assistant General Overseer of the church, Funso Odesola, about 25,000 Parishes of the church are expected to carry out the same exercise nationwide.

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Samson Ayokunle led the prayers and walk against insecurity in Nigeria at the Oritamefa Baptist Church, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

 

The Chairman of CAN, Lagos state chapter, Apostle Alex Bamgbola also led the prayer walk in the state.

The CAN President had declared a three-day special fasting and prayer for Nigeria in all churches, home and abroad, from Friday, January 31 to Sunday, February 2, 2020.

ARUNA QUADRI has crashed out of the 2020 ITTF World Tour Platinum German open on Thursday.

The African table Tennis champion could not repeat another three-set comeback as he lost 4-2 to Germany’s TIMO BOLL in the Round of 32.

After going three sets down against BOLL, he won the next two sets, closing the margin to 3-2.

The German however regained control, winning his fourth set to claim an 11-5, 11-2, 11-9, 3-11, 8-11, 11-8 victory over the Nigerian.
