CAN Condemns Move By The Senate To Establish Agency For Repentant Boko Haram Members.

The Christian Association of Nigeria has condemned the move by the Senate to establish an agency for repentant members of Boko Haram terrorist group.

Just as CAN is condemning the act, the Chibok community in Borno State also lambasted the Senate, saying the people of the North-East, not insurgents, needed urgent attention and rehabilitation.

CAN Director of Legal and Public Affairs,  Kwamkur Samuel, in an interview said he was not aware of any nation that had successfully undertaken the project of de-radicalising, rehabilitating and empowering terrorists.

He accused the Federal Government of having an ulterior motive of rewarding terrorism instead of considering a bill that will provide adequate relief materials for victims of terrorism.

On his part, the Spokesperson for the Kibaku Community Development Association in Chibok, Dr Allen Manasseh, said anyone who supports the bill must be an enemy of this country.

The bill first read at the senate yesterday was sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, former Governor of Yobe state.
