The House Of Representatives Has Invited The Minister of Education, Labour And ASUU To Discuss Ongoing Strike

The House of Representatives has invited the Minister of Education, Labour and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to find a lasting solution to ongoing warning strike by the union.

 

This was sequel to the unanimous adoption of a motion of Urgent Matters of Public Importance by Dachung Bagos (PDP-Plateau) during plenary.

 

Moving the motion, Bagos said ASUU had on March 9, after its National Executive Council meeting (NEC) held in Enugu embarked on a two-week warning strike.

 

BAGOS said schools had just resumed and if the strike is allowed to take full effect, it would cost many students extra academic year.

President Muhammadu Buhari Says N3.7billion Has Been Recovered from NDDC Contractors.

President Muhammadu Buhari says N3.7billion has been recovered from Niger Delta Development Commission contractors.

 

He explained that the recovery was made by anti-graft agencies looking into the operations of the NDDC.

 

The president spoke in Abuja while inaugurating the NDDC Advisory Committee at the State House, Abuja.

 

The committee comprises the nine governors of the Niger Delta region, and the Ministers of Niger Delta Affairs and Environment.

 

The president charged the committee to discharge the new assignment diligently and effectively, while working closely with the relevant ministries.

 

President Buhari said in addition to the N3.7billion cash, various assets worth billions of Naira were also recovered from some contractors and former Directors of the Commission.

Barely 24 hours after his dethronement, Muhammadu Sanusithe Second  has been appointed as Vice Chairman of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency, Kadipa.

A statement from Sir Kashim Ibrahim House said Governor NASIR EL-RUFAI approved the reconstitution of the board of Kadipa.

According to the statement by the Special Adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Muyiwa Adekeye, the appointment is part of the reconstitution of the board of Kadipa, which is statutorily chaired by the Deputy Governor, and has as internal members senior officials of the Kaduna State Government.

It added that Governor El-Rufai said Kaduna State hopes to benefit from the profile, experience, intellect and networks of the former CBN governor who before becoming Emir, had built a solid reputation in global financial circles.

Governor El-Rufai said Kaduna State is honoured to be able to call on the services of a man of such caliber to drive its development.

Muhammad Sanusi the Second Says He Is Going To Challenge His banishment In Court.

The deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi the Second has said he is going to challenge his banishment in the court of law.

SANUSI’s lawyer, Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN), made this known during a press conference in his chamber while stressing that the former emir had however not given them any directive to challenge his dethronement.

According to Mahmoud, the archaic practice of banishment of deposed Emirs, which was a colonial practice, has no basis under Nigerian law or the Constitution.

Mahmoud said the Kano State Government would be sued if the former emir was not released within 24 hours.

He said the former CBN governor was never given any opportunity to defend himself against the charges against himThe archaic practice of banishment of deposed Emirs, a colonial practice has no basis under Nigerian law or the Constitution.

He described SANUSI’s detention as illegal and unconstitutional and therefore called on the relevant to ensure his immediate release.
