Presidential Task Force on COVID 19 urges Nigerians to be patient with security agents during lockdown

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with security officials as they carry out their duties during the lockdown directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, made the appeal at the Task Force’s daily briefing on COVID 19 in Abuja.

The SSG said if Nigerians were polite to the officers, they would reciprocate the civility shown to them.

Boss Mustapha also reiterated that the only way to drastically reduce transmission of the virus is through the lockdown.

Police arrest suspected killers of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Fasoranti

The Nigeria Police Force says it has apprehended the killers of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the leader of the PAN-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti.

This was revealed in a statement by Force Spokesman, DCP Frank Mba.

It says investigations so far reveal that the operation that led to the killing was carried out by eight (8) fully armed kidnap/robbery suspects led by one Tambaya (other name unknown) who is currently at large.

DCP Mba added that while four (4) of the suspects are in custody, effort is being intensified to arrest the four (4) others still on the run. The 8-man gang has their operational base and membership spread in the south-western part of the country and Edo State.

Kaduna Governor El-Rufai says he has not been cleared of COVID-19

Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has cleared the air regarding speculations about his COVID-19 status, by announcing that he is still positive for coronavirus.

Shortly after chairing the Kaduna State Executive Council meeting, Governor El-Rufai via his official Twitter handle, said, “I haven’t been cleared of COVID-19 yet and I will personally announce when confirmed negative. Ignore all fake news even if you like it”.

The governor tested positive for the virus in March and is yet to recover more than two weeks after.

Sanwoolu: Residents who flout lockdown directive will be dealt with; asks Traditional Rulers To Lead By Example

The State Government has said it will bring full weight of the law on residents who flout the new lockdown directive issued by President BUHARI.

The President in a broadcast had extended the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory to curb the spread of the global pandemic for another 14 days.

While addressing newsmen at the Marina House, Governor SANWOOLU called on the traditional rulers to lead by example in ensuring their subject comply with the directive.

The Governor reiterated that social distancing is still the best way so far to flatten the curb in the spread of the virus.

To stem the current tide of criminality in Lagos and Ogun states, the IG of Police, MOHAMMED ADAMU, has deployed an intervention squad to curb it.
