Kwara Assembly Seizes Former Senate President Bukola Saraki’s Properties.

The Kwara State House of Assembly has seized some properties belonging to the former Governor of the state and Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI.

In a statement, the Special Assistant to the Speaker, IBRAHIM SHERIFF, said the Alimi Chalet and a landed property, popularly called Ile Arugbochalet was erected on the land belonging to the state government.

It explained that the allocation of the posh property to SARAKI by the last administration, was a “violent violation” of the Kwara State Former Governor’s Pension Law 2010, as amended, which had already taken care of Saraki.

ABRAHAM, TOMORI, SNUBS NIGERIA, ACCEPTS ENGLAND.

Efforts by Nigeria to poach Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have failed as the players have been called up for England’s Euro 2020 qualifiers.

England coach, Gareth Southgate, called up the players alongside 23 others as the Three Lions take on Czech Republic on October 11 and Bulgaria three days later.

Abraham won two England caps in a pair of friendlies in November 2017 but remains eligible for a change of allegiance to Nigeria until his recent invitation to England’s senior team.

If he plays against either the Czechs or Bulgaria, he will not be able to switch allegiance to Nigeria again, while the same also applies to Tomori, who played for Canada at U-20 level.

On why he called up the Nigerian into the England squad, Southgate said, “He (Abraham) and Tomori are both in on merit and have been part of our junior system right the way through, so we see them as English players and they have a huge desire to play for England at senior level.

US OPEN WINNER BATTLES INTO CHINA OPEN SEMI FINALS.

World number one Ashleigh Barty battled into the China Open semi-finals on Friday with a gutsy three-set victory over familiar foe Petra Kvitova.

The Australian came from a set down to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and plays Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina or Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands in the last four in Beijing.

This was the sixth meeting between Barty and two-time Wimbledon champion Kvitova, with the Australian winning only one of her previous encounters against the Czech.

Barty, 23, who had strapping on her left calf, was under pressure immediately in the deciding set after seventh-ranked Kvitova broke her first service game.

But reigning French Open champion Barty grabbed the break back immediately and, with the clock ticking past two hours on court, broke Kvitova again for a decisive 5-3 lead.

EMERY: OZIL DOES NOT DESERVE A PLACE IN THE SQUAD

Unai Emery said Mesut Ozil did not deserve his place even in a squad packed with youngsters after Arsenal beat Standard Liege in the Europa League.

Ozil, the highest-paid player in the history of the club, was once again left out of the matchday squad as Gabriel Martinelli hit a brace in a 4-0 Group F victory at home on Thursday.

The 18-year-old scored twice in three first-half minutes before laying on Dani Ceballos to score his first goal for the club, Joe Willock having already added the third.

Emery made 10 changes from the side that drew at Manchester United on Monday, with Ozil not making the matchday squad on either occasion.

The 30-year-old has had a difficult relationship with Emery since the manager’s appointment last year and his absence from the squad will lend weight to speculation that he does not have a long-term future at Arsenal
