APC Insists It Will Participate In Bayelsa Governorship Elections.

The All Progressives Congress, APC has faulted the judgment which nullified the primary that produced DAVID LYON as its governorship candidate for Saturday’s Bayelsa State governorship election.

At a press conference held a few hours after a Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, delivered its judgment on Thursday, the APC said it would appeal the judgement.

It also disclosed that its lawyers were already working on the processes to first secure a stay of execution.

Speaking at the press briefing, Minister of State for Petroleum, TIMIPRE SYLVA said the judgment of the appeal court was that status quo should be maintained.

SYLVA also accused the PDP of being responsible for the violence in Nembe.

Justice JANE INYANG nullified the APC governorship primary while adjudicating on a suit filed by Senator HEINEKEN LOKPOBIRI, a former minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development and a governorship aspirant under APC.

The judge held that the primary was conducted arbitrarily outside the rules of the APC, as it was conducted in violation of the party’s constitution and guidelines as clearly spelt out for the conduct of governorship primaries

U-23 AFCON: Nigeria in dicey clash against S’Africa

Nigeria’s U-23 team have their back against the wall when they face South in their final Group B game at the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations‚ needing just a win to advance to the semi-finals and stay on course for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The tie sparks up an old rivalry that has seen both sides clash at all age-group levels‚ with the Nigerians coming out tops in most of the confrontations.

Imama Amapakabo’s charges are brimming with confidence after their resounding 3-1 win over Zambia in their second Group B game.

They had earlier lost 1-0 to Ivory Coast in their opening game last Saturday.

Should the U-23 Eagles draw the game, they will have to rely on Zambia beating Ivory Coast by a lone goal and then on goal-difference‚ to book a semi-final spot.

A loss to South Africa and Ivory Coast getting at least a point off Zambia will end Nigeria’s hopes of defending their title and reaching the 2020 Tokyo Olympic.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals‚ while the finalists and bronze-medal winners will book their places at the Olympic Games next year.

Edo APC Suspends National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole.

The crisis rocking the Edo state chapter of the APC deepens yesterday as the party announced the suspension of its chairman, ANSELM OJEZUA.

Shortly after the announcement, another message emerged from the Government House announcing the removal of the state secretary, LAWRENCE OKAH and the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE.

It was gathered that the sacking of OJEZUA caught the state government unawares, forcing Governor GODWIN OBASEKI to summon an emergency meeting of party leaders in the state.

At the end of the meeting, the ruling party announced the suspension of OKAH and OSHIOMHOLE, having passed a vote of no confidence in them.

Earlier in the day, the State Working Committee of the APC had passed a vote of no confidence in OJEZUA as eleven out of the 16-member SWC voted against him during their meeting.
