FG Approves Reopening of Schools for Graduating Classes

The federal government has approved the reopening schools for the graduating classes to allow students resume preparation for their examinations.

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha said, the federal government also lifted the ban on interstate movement outside curfew hours and reopened airports for domestic flights.

Mustapha also said President Muhammadu Buhari approved the extension of the phased lockdown for four weeks, meaning the 10pm to 4am nationwide curfew, restrictions on mass gatherings and sporting activities will continue.

Nigeria’s COVID-19 Toll Exceeds 25,000 as NCDC Confirms 566 New Cases

A total of 566 new cases of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Nigeria, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 25,133.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC said 166 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, 66 in Oyo State, 53 in Delta State, 43 in Ebonyi State, 34 in Plateau State, 32 in Ondo State, 26 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 25 in Ogun State, 24 in Edo State, 15 in Imo State,

Bayelsa State recorded 13 new cases, 12 in Benue state, 11 each in Gombe, Kano and Kaduna states, eight in Osun State, seven in Nasarawa State, and two in Katsina and Anambra states.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State government has disclosed that 2,683 active COVID-19 patients have not turned up for treatment at the isolation centres.

Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi who made the disclosure attributed the reasons for not turning up for admission, to ignorance, fear of stigmatization or they opted for home care method.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the state has recorded 128 COVID-19 related deaths.

Nigeria Records 594 New Covid-19 Cases

Nigeria has recorded 594 fresh coronavirus cases increasing the total infections in the country to 22,614.

The NCDC in a tweet last night said the new infections were recorded in 21 states and the FCT.

Lagos State recorded the highest with 159 new cases, while Delta had the second highest with 106 cases and followed by Ondo State (44), FCT (34), Edo (34) and Oyo (33).

Other states with fresh cases of the virus are as follows: Kaduna (33), Enugu (28), Katsina, (25), Imo (22) Adamawa (15),  Ogun (12), Osun (11) Abia (8), amd Rivers (6).

The remaining states with new ases are Nasarawa (5), Bauchi (5), Niger (5), Kebbi (4), Ekiti (3), Plateau (1), Taraba (1).

Of the number of total infections in the country, 7,822 have been discharged with 549 deaths recorded so far.

NCDC Confirms 649 New COVID-19 Cases, Nigeria’s Toll Now 22,020

A total of 649 new cases of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Nigeria bringing the number to 22,020.

 

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said 250 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, 100 in Oyo State, 40 each in Plateau and Delta states, 28 in Abia State, 27 in Kaduna State, 22 in Ogun State, 20 in Edo State, 18 in Akwa Ibom State and 17 in Kwara State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

 

Enugu state recorded 14 new cases, 13 each in Niger and Adamawa states, seven in Bayelsa State, six each in Osun and Bauchi states, four in Anambra State, three in Gombe State, two in Sokoto State and one in Imo and Kano states respectively.
