Nigeria Confirms Third Case Of Coronavirus

Nigeria has confirmed another case of Coronavirus in Lagos.

 

This is the third case of the virus in Nigeria and a new case-independent of the index case.

 

The State Government has said it has the manifest of British Airways flight that brought in the latest confirmed case of Coronavirus.

 

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi broke the news to journalists in Ikeja.

 

He explained that the case was that of a 30-year-old Nigerian female who returned from the United Kingdom on March 13, observed self-isolation and developed symptoms, thereby testing positive.

Senate Asks Federal Government To Effect Travel Ban On High-Risk Countries With Coronavirus

The Senate has called for travel ban on high risk countries with Corona virus in an attempt to contain the outbreak.

 

It also asked the federal government to restrict travels of non-Nigerians from worst-hit countries.

 

This comes after the senate adopted a point of order raised at the plenary session by its health committee chairman, Ibrahim Oloriegbe.

 

He however, said that travels should only be allowed based on its importance.

 

Senate President Ahmad Lawan who agreed with his submission called on Nigerians to observe all safety measures and regulations given by experts.

 

Speaking on All Out Politics, Achike Chude said he expects government to take more decisive measures on Coronavirus.

Idris Elba says he has coronavirus

Actor Idris Elba said he has tested positive for Covid-19. Elba, 47, said he received his test results Monday morning.So far, the “Luther” star said he feels “OK” and is showing no symptoms, according a video posted to Twitter.Elba said he had been isolated since finding out last Friday that he had been exposed to someone who tested the positive.

He encouraged people watching to practice social distancing and be diligent about hand washing, emphasizing the point that there are asymptomatic people are out there, like himself.
“Stay home people and be pragmatic,” he wrote.
He added: “Look we live in a divided world right now…but now is a time for solidarity. Now is a time for thinking about each other. There are so many people whose lives have been affected.”
Elba’s wife, Sabrina Dhowre, appeared beside him in his video. Elba said she has not been tested but was “doing OK.”
Elba, who is known for work as Heimdall in the Marvel film universe and recently appeared in “Cats,” said he would provide updates on his condition.
“So far, we’re feeling OK. Stay positive and don’t freak out.”
Elba is the latest high profile star to share news of his coronavirus diagnosis.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson announced they had tested positive for coronavirus last week.
On Sunday, Hanks provided an update on Instagram, sharing a photo of his vegemite and toast set beside a kangaroo toy.
“Thanks to the Helpers. Let’s take care of ourselves and each other,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju has also tested positive.
